Complementary Therapy

In some circumstances, patients may ask for treatments in the hospital by their private therapists, such as acupuncturists, chiropractors, reflexologists, childbirth assistants/doulas, or lactation consultants. The therapy is provided as a complement to medical therapy in the hospital, and is not to become a substitute for hospital treatments. Patients are responsible for arranging their own appointment. All medical, nursing or allied health treatment will not be interrupted or delayed due to the provision of this complementary therapy.

These types of therapies must be ordered by your doctor and can only be provided by therapists who have been approved for the privilege of seeing patients in the hospital. You will be required to sign a form that releases the hospital and your physician from all liability in relation to any harm to you that may result from these therapies.
